Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.
I have worked with a people going through life transitions, understanding trauma, and exploring what makes healthy and happy relationships. I believe that therapy is a tool to assist in times of need, and in therapy I want to support the individual to come to their own conclusions. My end goal is for my clients to feel that they have their own tools to solve their problems.

I work with clients on a number of issues including communication skills, conflict resolution, intimacy, boundaries, attachment styles, anxiety, depression, trauma, and more. I specialize in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Using a trauma-informed approach, I incorporate modalities like EMDR, CBT, DBT, and person-centered techniques to help clients heal and thrive. I’m deeply passionate about advocating for trans and queer rights and increasing access to gender-affirming care.

We all have a unique story which defines how we manage our daily lives. I will be that therapist who provides you with a safe and welcoming environment to tell your story. I am aware that everyone has challenges, struggles, and sometimes feel “stuck” at some point in their life. I will be the first to tell you that this is ok, you are not alone. My goal is to work collaboratively with you so that you feel empowered to overcome these challenges and struggles.

Are you struggling with symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, Anger, ADHD or PTSD related to relationships with friends or family members? During our initial sessions, while building rapport, we will investigate issues at hand, and collaborate to develop treatment goals/objectives for addressing them. Establishing safety and stabilization of symptoms is typically one of the first goals. My clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.

You know yourself better than anyone else – even if it doesn’t seem like it yet. I help my clients to discover (or rediscover) themselves in meaningful ways. The tools are sometimes out-of-the-box (maybe a tarot card will help you work through that difficult thought process or better understand that dysfunctional relationship), evidenced-based, and always collaborative. We’ll laugh. You’ll probably cry – but you’ll definitely feel better.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My clients are chaos gremlins holding it together with dry shampoo and sarcasm. They’re crushing it at work while having a full meltdown in the Target parking lot. Overthinking? Constant. Burnout? Absolutely. If your brain feels like a feral cat in a cardboard box, welcome. We untangle the mess and figure out how to function without yeeting ourselves into the sun.
I welcome clients from all backgrounds and affectional orientations with an open mind, a compassionate heart and a desire to help them live a fulfilling life. I am kink-friendly and an LGBTQIA+ ally. I accept you as you are and my #1 goal is to help you on your journey to a better life. For those of you who have had negative experiences with previous therapists, I take the time to ask you about those experiences to better understand how to make the therapeutic process work for you.
