G. Roman Gupta
Therapist, LCSWMy deepest wish is for you to know that you have everything you need in order to be happy RIGHT NOW.
“The problem is the problem. The person is not the problem.” (Michael White, 1989) I am a relational therapist, group & mindfulness facilitator, educator with a 27+ year career dedicated to companioning individuals & families standing up to challenges in health, healing, grief & loss, life transitions. Many need bolstering facing life’s difficult problems - cancer, grief, dogging mood states (circular worry, anxiety/panic, depression), "urban loneliness," coming out, special-needs parenting.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in survival mode—you are not alone. Together, we will quiet the internal noise, build your capacity for the hard stuff, and reconnect you to a steadier, more rooted sense of self. I often work with clients navigating trauma, relational ruptures, and the emotional weight that comes with healing. Our work is about finding clarity, creating compassion, and expanding what feels possible.
I have particular passion for serving those with complex body relationships, who want to understand their ADHD or autism better, who crave support as they deconstruct their spiritual histories, who are frustrated by vague therapy answers, who fear they are "too much" or "too different". Overall, those who want to find the beauty in the darkness rather than denying the darkness, and who want to sit crooked and talk straight.
While I work with a wide range of folks, I tend to be the person folks come to when other therapies haven't worked. Relational Somatic Psychotherapy is a deep and powerful therapeutic approach. It works at a very deep and primal level. We combine neuro-biologically informed treatment with mindfulness, movement, traditional talk therapy, drama therapy and more, all in the container of our relationship.
It can be hard to know where to turn when you feel hopeless, overwhelmed, isolated, lost, or estranged from inner aliveness. Your feelings make sense - everyone gets lost sometimes. Panic and anxiety can be terrifying, and depression can feel immovable. You will gain relief, personalized tools, and creative solutions with a trusted ally in the therapeutic process. My approach is compassionate and curious, and I value trust-building collaboration and actionable treatment planning.
They come from all walks of life. Many struggle with grief and loss--of a loved one, or of a cherished idea of how life was meant to be. Some feel at war with themselves; the survival strategies of the past--once so vital--no longer serve them, leading to depression, anxiety, and diminished relationships. They are in a bind: longing to connect but frightened, with good reason, of the vulnerability that makes connection possible. I help them move in the direction of growth and deeper connection.

I have experience helping adults, adolescents and couples who are coping with anxiety, depression, illness, loss, life transitions including gender and sexual identity, substance abuse, relationship concerns including non-monogamy, negative body image, menopause, and the particular challenges faced by those working in the creative fields.
Do you feel overwhelmed? Hopeless? Scared? Stuck? Do you feel like your world is spinning out of control? Do you wish the chaos would stop? And what would it be like to NOT feel that way? Sometimes past hurts affect present relationships. Sometimes what you know in your head doesn't match what you feel in your heart. Sometimes multiple stressors can overwhelm you. And sometimes we just need a tune-up for our lives.
Specializing in LGBQ+ identities and relationships, Trans/NB/Gender-expansive adults (and parents of), trauma, survivorship, body image, shame, women’s empowerment, intersectional identities, decolonizing healing, Chicanx experiences, mixed race identities, poly/non-monog experiences/relationships, sex work, kink, Depression, Anxiety, Adjustment, queer parenting, chronic pain, neural circuit pain, and mind-body symptoms.
You’re overwhelmed, self-aware, and stuck in patterns you don’t totally understand — in relationships, with your emotions, or the way you talk to yourself. I work best with teens and twenty-somethings navigating anxiety, low self-worth, perfectionism, people-pleasing, identity questions, and relational dynamics that aren’t working anymore.
I find that my clients come to treatment when they have arrived at a life transition- be it loss of relationship, job, death of loved one, or realization of past traumatic experiences- and are ready to process their emotions and heal. Openness to exploring your internal world, including past traumatic experiences that may be impacting your life, is integral in the work I will support you in.

Early experiences influence the way we act and engage in the world. Without time to reflect we can get stuck in habits and patterns that are meant to protect us but prevent us from true connection with others and the present. Together we will identify root causes of the behaviors and repeated actions that no longer serve you. We will practice being vulnerable. Clients who are serious about making changes while maintaining a sense of humor when needed will do well in this practice together.
Divorce can feel like make you feel like your life is out of control; like someone or some thing picked up the snow globe of your life and shook it. Now all the pieces are flying around and everything feels overwhelming, uncertain. You don’t know how to put things back together again and are maybe not even sure you really want to. It can feel like you will never be happy again. Divorce is hard and often it's really shitty.
I work with people who feel like their lives are a mess. Sometimes this sense of chaos has been lifelong. Other times something has happened that completely upends the structure of a person’s life, leaving them to pick up the pieces. The people I work with don’t fit into a neat diagnostic box. They often struggle with issues across a number of domains, whether eating, substance use, career, identity, and of course relationships. I also work with many people who are queer and/or artists.
I specialize in supporting women, mothers, and couples navigating the complex and often overwhelming challenges of motherhood, infertility, the profound grief associated with termination for medical reasons (TFMR), aging, parenting difficulties, relationship concerns, life transitions, and various forms of grief. Drawing on my own experiences as a mother, I am uniquely attuned to the pressures women endure.

I see many people who are overwhelmed with their day-to-day life, and often because of this, their important relationships have begun to slip away from them. They long for close, grounded relationships that enable them to experience more of the best parts of life.
My clients are artists and creatives- neurodivergent, highly sensitive "black-sheep" healing from complex trauma and longing to live authentically in a toxic culture. You may find yourself stuck in distressing patterns that are affecting your relationships, self-worth and health. Together we can explore how these patterns actually make sense given your lived experience. We will reduce shame making space for compassion & healing.
