Exposure therapy is a therapeutic technique that was created to help people face their fears. When you are scared of something, you tend to avoid it. Although this avoidance might help reduce feelings of fear in the short-term, over time the fear can grow and worsen. Exposure therapy involves exposing the client to the source of the fear (or its context) in a safe environment without the intention to cause any danger. The exposure to the feared situation, object, or activity helps to reduce fear and decrease avoidance. Exposure therapy can be helpful in the treatment of a number of issues, including PTSD, anxiety, OCD, and panic attacks. Think this approach might be right for you? Those who have experienced hardships in life struggle to believe in their worthiness of being seen. These events can leave you with long lasting emotional disruptions or difficulty in developing safe relationships. You may also struggle with moving from your cognitive mind into your emotional mind because you've never felt safe. You shouldn't have to look at life through the lens of distrust and pain any longer, and I want to help you break these filters down for good.

An ideal client would be someone who is empathetic toward others and compassionate toward themselves and is open, coachable, and capable of accepting feedback. The process of therapy takes time and energy so having someone start the process of therapy with an open mind and a willingness to put in the work to see the process through is also helpful. Jennifer also offers clinical supervision to associates registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT, PCC, ASW).
