Just like any other group, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community faces mental health issues and unique challenges. However, LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, more than half of individuals who identify as transgender experience depression or anxiety. The LGBTQ community is also at a higher risk for suicide. Young people are even more at risk, as they may experience a lack of support at home and fear, hatred or prejudice in school. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and are facing mental health challenges, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s LGBTQ experts and get help today.

Have you ever felt that forming and maintaining relationships, engaging in consistent self-care, or navigating everyday "adulting" feels more challenging for you than those around you? Do you struggle to “be yourself” or even understand what that truly looks like? Are you caught in the feeling of being either “too much” or “not enough?” If you answered yes to any of those questions, we could be a good fit!

I have specific interests in working with the LGBTQIA+ community, neurodivergent community, adolescents, providing trauma focused care, and providing couples therapy. I invest in helping clients understand the power of their own healing, tapping into their inner strengths, and in building trust with their true self. My approach to therapy is humanistic and collaborative, with an investment in providing empathetic and holistic care.

Relationships can be a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving you at times feeling extremely connected and in sync, and at other times feeling like you are on two different planets. Often, we have genuine intentions but keep getting stuck in negative communication patterns. While I work with ALL couples and relationships I work predominately with LGBTQIA+ relationships. If you are looking for a new way forward together but unsure where to start the healing you have come to the right place.

I don't really have a particular population I focus on. I want to work with everybody! That said, I have a great deal of experience with adults with persistent and severe mental illness, adolescents with oppositional and defiant behavior, and clients seeking help from their local psychiatrist. I start every session with "Tell me what's going on with you. What can I do to help?" Then we go from there. I end every session with "Was that helpful?" I haven't heard "No" yet.

You’re a go-getter. You believe that if there is a way to work your way out of a problem, then defining those steps will get you out of this slump, worry, and recurring conflict. A creeping sense of unease can look like fear, sleeplessness, dissatisfaction, or sadness coupled with the stress of responsibilities you already have. Your upset might manifest as frequent arguing with your partner or emotional numbing. You want to figure this thing out, so you can all get back to normal.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
