Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. If you are experiencing gender identity issues, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s qualified professionals today.
I enjoy helping individuals who experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, life transitions, as well as those who want to overcome various symptoms of trauma. Often people I work with are seeking more peace, empowerment, and healthier relationships with others and with themselves. In this, my aim is to help individuals feel more confident, attuned to themselves, and kinder to parts of themselves, even those that can be hard to accept.

I work with couples, adults, and teens who are LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC folks. Some themes I love working with include grief, relationships, life transitions, boundaries, anxiety, and depression. Integration of altered states of consciousness, exploration of intersectional identities and intergenerational trauma are also common themes in my practice. I have a passion for helping folks get in touch with their inner knowing & becoming their fullest and most authentic selves.

One thing that a lot of my clients have in common is a harsh inner critic. This critic can affect your self-esteem, cause anxiety or depression or both, or hold you back from pursuing your dreams. I look at the inner critic is as a part of you. I want to make space for other parts of you that aren't as dominant so that you can thrive. I also connect well with people who have experienced childhood emotional neglect, meaning that it was difficult to form a solid trusting bond with your caregivers.

My clients are usually artists, people in helping professions or people who have a fundamental sense of being “different” from others in some important way. Though my clients sometimes doubt their strengths when they first come to therapy, I generally find that the people I work with are often thoughtful and caring. They usually come to therapy because they are trapped in a painful circumstance such as deep depression, intense anxiety or repeated difficulties in relationships.

Often, we're taught to shy away from the uncomfortable: the wounds, the hurt places. We label them as “bad” or “problems”, and do whatever we can to cope, instead of healing that pain. I specialize in working with folks who have experienced trauma, feel they don’t fit into society’s boxes, or seek deeper self-exploration. Together, we reconnect to your body and emotions, break out of old patterns that aren’t serving you, and move into the life you want.

I work primarily with folks who are: neurodivergent (e.g. autistic, ADHD, or other), chronically ill/disabled (particularly with autoimmune illnesses), queer/LGBTQIAA2S, sexual/gender outsiders, fat-identified and/or hoping to develop a more loving relationship with their body, sex workers, poly folks, and those in non-traditional relationship and family structures. If you've ever been told that you're too much, too negative, or too "in your head," let's talk. I welcome you exactly as you are.

Sexuality and pleasure are often stigmatized, this plays into how we feel about ourselves, our bodies, and in relation to others. I specialize in sex and relationship issues with couples/partners and work towards undoing harmful stories that harm us and create shame. I work from a trauma-informed lens to undo and empower. I work with clients to significantly reduce distress and undo longer-standing concerns.

There comes a point for many of us when we realize that we don’t want to face our problems alone. We are human after all, and a part of what defines that humanity is our need for each other. I understand how frightening it can be to let people in and get close. You may tend to give more than you get back. You might feel self-critical. You might not know what it is you're needing. I'm here to join you and to help you find the connection and purpose you may be seeking.

Perhaps you're here because something feels off, difficult, or just… heavy. You might be actively searching for support, or maybe you're just tentatively exploring the idea of therapy. You know you need a space where you won't just be accepted, but truly understood – a place where your identity as isn't just a footnote, but a central, respected part of your story. I heal both mind and body from abuse, attachment wounds, isolation, and self-doubt or hatred.
