About My Clients
Have you been told you're "too"--too much, too picky, think too much, worry too much, analyze too much? No matter how successful you are, you still feel like you're not good enough, or your still feel empty? You may be affected by bright lights, loud noises, crowds, and you may feel overwhelmed and exhausted! You might be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). HSPs often have wounding from childhood, which makes it hard to see the strengths you have BECAUSE of your sensitivity!
My Background and Approach
Therapy is about the relationship! HSPs tend to be super hard on themselves; I get that! My style is very compassionate, and I provide a lot of education so you understand this is how you're hard-wired! I teach many ways to create more peace, calm and acceptance and help reduce overwhelm. HSPs are truth-tellers, and I will gently tell you when I see a potential blindspot. I share my own struggles when appropriate because we ALL have struggles. Many HSPs have wounding from childhood--research shows this causes anxiety and depression in HSPs. It is estimated that 50% of clients in therapy are HSPs but the good news is that when HSPs are in environments that support them, they have better outcomes in therapy than non-HSPs. I work online (telehealth) with clients who live in California, and I provide coaching globally. I offer a free 20 minute consult, so let's jump on an online meeting, so you can experience what it's like and see if you think we're a good fit!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We ALL have struggles, and I'm here with you on your path. Some people think that therapy will "fix" them. You aren't broken, so there's nothing to fix! YOU are the expert on you (even if you don't know that yet). If you tend to run on the sensitive side, you probably have felt like you haven't fit in. HSPs make up about 20% of the population, so we ARE the minority! That's why I have such strong feelings about being authentic as a therapist, so you get that you aren't alone. The focus is always on you, and what you need, but HSPs respond to connection with others, and feeling accepted. Please be sure that you have a great connection with your therapist! Your therapist can't read your mind, and doesn't "know better" than you! Ideally, you should feel that your therapist has your back. I created a podcast, so HSPs could learn about their strengths.
