My Background and Approach
I have been a mental health counselor since 2013 and started my company, A Different Attitude Counseling, in 2014. With a Master's degree from Walden University, I possess the knowledge and expertise necessary to provide compassionate and effective counseling services. I take a comprehensive approach to therapy, addressing not only the symptoms but also the root causes of the issues. Typically I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) or solution focused therapy in my sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Counseling is my passion, it is who I am at my very core. I am known for my sense of humor (I firmly believe in the healing power of laughter), my passion for counseling and creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for my clients to express themselves fully. I want ensure a warm and welcoming environment for everyone that comes through my doors regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. It is important to me to hold space for all marginalized people, not in a savior type way, but with value, empathy and compassion. Roughly 75% of my current caseload identifies within LGBTQIA+. I do specialize in individuals who are questioning or transitioning genders. I have been fortunate to walk with mulitple clients as they started their transitions all the way to surgery and beyond. I fully support BIPOC and work to normalize counseling within those communities. I have taken many hours of continuing education training to ensure the highest level of care for each individual.
