About My Clients
I primarily work with LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC individuals around their struggles with anxiety, attachment, chronic illness/medical trauma, depression, gender identity and sexuality, grief and loss, racial identity formation, religious trauma, and other forms of acute and systemic trauma.
My Background and Approach
I tend to approach therapy from a relational psychodynamic and existential-humanistic orientation, along with interpersonal neurobiology and trauma-informed care practices. What this means is, this is a space to bring your whole self. My desire as a therapist is to explore the complexity of your identity and story with you, as I pay attention to the emotions, thoughts, and impulses that come up for you and hold in mind the systemic factors that have had an impact on your relationship with yourself and others. I do so with a posture of curiosity and unconditional positive regard so that you may feel safe enough to experience and express your thoughts and emotions, without shame.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I support my clients’ whole lives as they navigate systems of care that are not always equitably accessible. To that end, my practice strives to decolonize and destigmatize mental health care through these commitments: 1) Center the lives and needs of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color 2) Affirm and celebrate Queer lives and experiences 3) Affirms and celebrate Trans lives and experiences 4) Support experiences of chronic illness and medical trauma 5) Honor experiences of disability and neurodiversity and 6) Celebrate body diversity and provide weight-neutral care within a Health At Every Size (HAES) framework. I strive to provide care that is anti-oppressive and pro-liberation for all people.
