About My Clients
Do you get overwhelmed by storms of thoughts or emotions? Or do you go the opposite way and end up feeling totally numb and disconnected? Do you caught up in worries about the future, judgements or rejections by others, memories of the past or negative thoughts about yourself or your situation? I'd like to work with you to end that struggle and reconnect with what is important. In addition, I am am WPATH member and can do readiness assessments or write letters for gender affirming care.
My Background and Approach
I am a clinical social worker with a decade of experience working directly with individuals and families coping with issues related to mental health and trauma as well as providing support to other professionals who work with them. I'm a Maryland state recognized clinical supervisor, and helped develop emerging social workers as graduate school instructor for the University of Alabama and through work at a social work program in Kerala, India. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, trauma survivors, immigrants, and others impacted by systems of oppression.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that clients are the experts in their own experiences and that the basis of therapy is an affirming, supportive relationship where clients and therapist are understood as equals. I know I work within a system that can cause harm, that is why I trained as a CAMS (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) provider and offer pro-bono assessments and letter writing for individuals in need of gender affirming surgical care.
