About My Clients
Are you struggling to find your place within the dominant culture? Have you begun to realize that certain aspects of your identity exist in a state of 'in-between'? You may have experienced feelings of displacement or marginalization and are looking for a space to fully show up, explore your multitude, and heal. I mostly work with folx with marginalized identities through relational/developmental trauma, overwhelming emotions, numbness/disconnection, and interpersonal/attachment issues.
My Background and Approach
I integrate relational-cultural, sensorimotor psychotherapy, psychodynamic, mindfulness, attachment theory, and parts work approaches in my work. As a relational therapist, I believe that safety within our therapeutic relationship is foundational to all possible growth and change. I approach all aspects of my clients with curiosity and compassion, especially the parts that may be hard for my clients to accept. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a container that could bring together the unhealed parts when we engage in open and authentic discussions about it. I use a phase-oriented treatment for trauma healing to create safety, develop resources, and process and integrate their experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am rooted in anti-oppression and justice-oriented practices. Trauma is political. We cannot truly heal from trauma without naming and resisting the oppressive forces that are upheld in the systems and institutions of society. I recognize the existence and the power of these systems while helping my clients develop resources to build efficacy and find beauty in their lives.
