About My Clients
Have you been feeling overwhelmed lately? Like others don't understand what you are going through, and it's hard to ask for what you need, because you don't know what you need. Perhaps you've gone through some changes lately. Big or small, change can be HARD! I am is glad you've found yourself here, because help is out there, and I want to help you. We can work on developing the skills for you to get through the days feeling more ready to handle whatever comes your way.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the social work field for a decade providing support to folks across the age span in a variety of settings. I am incredibly passionate about providing support to those around grief and loss, chronic illness, and those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. To quote Nora McInerny, "We don't move on from grief, we move forward with it". Losing someone special to you changes you. Grief, at it's core, is love. I will support you in learning to ride the wave so getting through the day is more manageable. There is so much in life we can't control, but we can control how we respond to things. Sit down with me, and I can help untangle those thoughts and feelings that you have been holding onto, the things that are too heavy to carry alone. Let's lighten the load, and re-envision what your future can hold for you. Every client is a unique person with individual needs, so we will work together to utilize the approaches that work best for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer identifying therapist, I am passionate about the LGBTQ+ community. I stand up for my community, utilizing my macro social work advocacy skills in addition to my clinical skills. I understand the unique challenges of the LGBTQ+ community. Sometimes we face judgment from those outside our community and even sometimes from those within it. As your therapist, please know that I will be there to listen to you. Perhaps you've had therapists in the past whom you've had to teach about your identity and our community. I assure you even if we are different letters of the alphabet, that won't be me, I will never put the burden on you to teach me about your identity. Although we all have lived different lives, there is a thread that ties us together. I see you for you.
