About My Clients
My clients come to me looking for support with anxiety and trauma. I work with kids to help them understand what anxiety is, how they experience it, and to teach them skills to more effectively cope. I also work with adults who either suffer with anxiety and/or relational trauma--the experience of having felt loss, betrayal or disconnection in our earliest relationships or family or origin.
My Background and Approach
My priority is to create a safe place where you or your child can feel comfortable enough to talk about feelings and experiences and try to understand them better. When we understand what is happening to us, our inner life becomes more predictable, we can talk about it with words, and our symptoms begin to dissipate. With children, I use narrative therapy (storytelling) and CBT (skill-building), and with adults, I primarily use a psychodynamic therapy (exploring relationships, past and present), narrative therapy (looking at the stories about ourselves) and sometimes CBT (skill-building). All of my services are trauma-informed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a seasoned therapist, I know that each of us has an innate tendency toward resiliency and healing, and I see my job as helping to remove any barriers that may be getting in your way.
