About My Clients

I am currently accepting new clients. I work with teens and young adults struggling with a variety of life stressors. Some of my specialties include relational difficulties, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, and gender and sexuality exploration.

My Background and Approach

Emily Powell, Pre-Licensed Clinical Therapist Under the supervision of Caitlin Brady, LCSW, CEDS, RYT M.S.Ed, M.Phil.Ed | University of Pennsylvania Serving clients in Pennsylvania I tend to use a psychodynamic framework as the basis for my work. This perspective highlights the importance of the unconscious, which means that a lot of important information, memories, and patterns might be hidden within us. It is my hope that our work together will help you develop insight, bringing some of the unconscious to conscious awareness. I also ground therapy in feminist theory, acknowledging and openly discussing the varying forms of oppression and intersectionality at play both inside the therapeutic space as well as in the client’s external life. I like to think about therapy as a collaborative, safe, open space that we can share together. You are the expert of your own story, and therefore, you are the expert of this space and our time together.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am an anti-racist, feminist therapist that acknowledges the importance of how our identities play out both in the therapeutic space and in our external worlds.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
