My Background and Approach
As a School Counselor/ School Social Worker for the past 24 years, I enjoy working closely with children and their family units from a strengths perspective in which I am able to take all factors into account as they affect each child. These factors may include cultural and religious values, family values, family dynamics, coping skills, adverse childhood experiences (ACE's), support systems, strengths, weaknesses, academics, social and emotional intelligence, and so forth. It is important to get the full picture in order to perform an accurate assessment and develop a tangible treatment plan. I feel that it is important to get down to the level of my clients to meet them at their level to develop a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship with my clients. I use both traditional approaches such as CBT and creative interventions tailored to the needs of my client. You determine the pace and comfort level throughout our sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the ability to succeed and overcome the obstacles that life throws their way. Everyday is a new day for a fresh start. I believe that a supportive environment can help clients to see their full potential and strengthen their coping skills to help them to deal with their challenges.
