About My Clients
My clients are caught in a web of anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt. They often wonder why certain patterns repeat in their relationships, whether with partners or others. Many of my clients experienced difficult and traumatic childhoods and are working to overcome the legacy of trauma. I also support women managing chronic health conditions, including endometriosis, pelvic pain, and other invisible conditions.
My Background and Approach
People who know me often say that I am an empathetic listener who can help people feel understood, which helps people feel seen and start to heal. I’m not a passive observer. I am warm and interactive; I will actively listen and also ask questions, provide feedback, and share a laugh throughout the process. It’s important to me to create safety within our sessions and ensure that the process is collaborative. I know that you hold your truths and I am honored to work with you as you unpack your story. I am certified in EMDR and Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also use attachment theory and the shame-resilience work of Brene Brown. Previously, I worked as a teacher and then school counselor in public high schools before becoming a full-time therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone can benefit from therapy and I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important component to healing. I use many lenses in my life, such as intersectional feminism and anti-racism, and I'm continually working to ally myself to communities such as the LGBTQIA and BIPOC communities. My personal experiences with navigating endometriosis gave me insight into the difficult journey of having a chronic illness. I know how hard it is and I commend you for getting the support you deserve! I also know the challenges of perfectionism and achievement-- it's a hamster wheel that can feel overwhelming and entrapping. I'm here to help you get off that ride! Please see my website below (under Info) for more about me and my practice. :)
