I take a decolonized perspective of madness which means I consider the harmful impacts that colonialism has had on the mental health of mad individuals including the advent of coercive and violent forms of treatment, the pathologization of social movements, environmental degradation, and the residual supremacy of the disease model of psychosis. My approach includes centering my client’s autonomy, spirituality, and intergenerational insight into their perceptions.

When working with queer and trans individuals and families, I have experience working with gender identity and sexuality concerns, family conflict and trauma, religious abuse, and gender-affirming care. I also have experience working with other more obscure identities such as asexuality, polyamory/consensual non-monogamy, and kink-related practices. I have run LGBTQIA+ support groups and community engagement projects.

I take a decolonized perspective of gender and sexuality which means that I acknowledge the systemic impact caused by generations of religious colonialism that continue to reinforce rigid and oppressive cis-het norms. In therapy with me, we will talk a lot about queer history, social issues, advocacy, building social support, negotiating culturally sensitive boundaries, refining self-expression, and engaging with your community.

The clients I work with are asking the big, sometimes uncomfortable questions about our existence and the big Universe out there. My client may have concerns about existential issues such as climate change, post-humanism, or fears about death. My clients may also be seeking meaningful relationships or may be looking to make sense of a painful experience.
