Writing about therapy is hard, particularly if you are not inclined to use tree or water metaphors. Instead, Janelle invites you to reach out if you are an anxious, perfectionistic individual who is struggling anywhere on the disordered eating to eating disorder spectrum. Throw in a liberal arts education, and it might be a great fit. Janelle primarily works with older adolescents (17+), young adults, and early career helping professionals (therapists, social workers, nurses, med students, etc.)
My Background and Approach
Janelle has significant experience in the eating disorder field, having worked at the outpatient, IOP, and PHP levels of care. She is happy to work with those actively struggling with meeting their nutritional needs, or those who are further along in recovery and want to work from an anti-diet culture lens. Janelle comes from a creative background, earning her BA in studio art and art history at Carleton College. After spending a few years in the museum/non-profit world, she returned to school to earn her MA in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology at the University of Minnesota. Janelle completed her internship at The Emily Program, working in both intensive and outpatient care. Janelle works from a feminist, gender and sexuality affirming, health-at-every-size, non-diet, anti-racist lens.
