About My Clients
Did past therapy experiences leave you feeling judged? I'm here to listen with compassion. I want to hear about the parts you’re ashamed of, the times you weren’t your best self (we’re ALL messy), and help you uncover and disrupt thoughts, behaviors, & relationship patterns that are no longer serving you. Whether you’re a queer teen carving out space in your conventional family/ town or an empty nester trying to figure out what YOU like and who YOU are after 25 years, you deserve to be heard.
My Background and Approach
I’m transparent in my approach, and my style is centered around building a warm and trusting alliance with my clients. I’m here to advocate for you, help you rediscover your strengths, and (gently) challenge you when you’re stuck. I’m always grateful for feedback and consider myself a lifelong learner. The clinical stuff: I integrate a number of modalities in my practice, including a whole lot of Attachment Theory and Family Systems Theory, a sprinkling of Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness/ CBT, a couple of DBT tools, and an overarching fuck ton of Feminist & Queer Theories. I’m affirming of all varieties of family and relationship structures, sexualities and consensual practices.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in bodily autonomy for all, that Black lives matter, and that gatekeeping around identity and gender-affirming care is ethically reprehensible. I know that you are the expert in your own life, and I strive to practice cultural humility with my clients. I LOVE nuanced conversations around difficult topics, and at the same time, I don't believe that human rights should be up for debate. I bring my full self to therapy sessions: I'm a non-binary woman, queer, lesbian, white, middle class, and culturally Jewish (I don't practice any religion). My background is in working with LGBTQ+ teens and in domestic violence & sexual assault advocacy and support. I'm also a strong believer in the power of intergenerational learning (and dog kisses). I’m the ridiculously proud parent of 3 grown kids.
