About My Clients
My clients are high-achieving and perfectionists, that struggle with slowing down and relaxing. They are really hard on themselves and feel like they are being crushed by their responsibilities. They also identify as the eldest daughter, perfect daughter, or child of alcoholics. They have experienced childhood traumas or attachment wounds from their child-parent relationship.
My Background and Approach
I am a trauma-focused, EMDR-trained clinician and help clients heal from traumatic experiences, including childhood trauma, sexual trauma, and generational trauma. My clients report thinking things like "I'm not good enough", but yet are constantly awarded for their achievements. I also connect well with early career professionals struggling to balance life roles and responsibilities. During our work together, I can help you achieve your initial therapy goals and hope to also assist you with achieving ongoing personal growth and self-improvement. My focus in our sessions initially is to teach you the skills you need to experience relief. Then the focus shifts to working on internal healing, building self-esteem, and finding happiness. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming, social justice oriented therapist and strive to create a safe space for ALL Texans.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy is for everyone, including you. I also believe that our life experiences sometimes cause us to learn unhealthy coping skills (ex. I experience symptoms of anxiety, so I cope by working to the point of burn-out). Your mental health symptoms are not your fault and those behaviors can be replaced. As a first-gen Latinx college student, I know first-hand the difficulty of navigating spaces not created for BIPOC, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ folx. Therefore, I make it a point to serve individuals who are experiencing similar struggles.
