About My Clients
I specialize in working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse (physical, emotional and sexual). Trauma often leaves us with a distorted sense of self, and emotions that are either too overwhelming or too numb. I will guide you in re-learning (or learning for the first time) how to feel your feelings in a healthy way. I'll support you in getting to know all the parts of you, so that you can create more harmony within yourself.
My Background and Approach
I have post-graduate training specializing in working with trauma survivors. I provide psychoeducation about the neurobiology of trauma and support my clients in using mindfulness and somatic strategies to regulate their nervous systems. I utilize EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy interventions to support my clients in their healing journeys.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in being as non-pathologizing as possible in my work. The question is not "What's wrong with you?"; The question is "What happened to you?" I do not believe in telling people that they have "disorders." I believe in supporting you to see your strengths and understand that "psychopathology" is simply a matter of surviving difficult circumstances.
