About My Clients

Dolly Parton once said, "Find out who you are and do it on purpose". So many people feel like the trauma, grief, and anxiety they have experienced keeps them from being the person they really want to be. Is this you? Maybe you feel lost, misunderstood, or struggling to connect -- either with your best self, or with others. I work with individuals and couples who want to heal so they can live life more intentionally, more joyfully, and with full purpose.

My Background and Approach

I often ask clients, "Would you rather be loved, or understood?" Would it surprise you to know that most people say understood? Feeling like someone "gets you" is such a gift. My goal is to help you (or you and your partner) feel deeply understood for exactly who you are. Because when you're able to explore your full self or partnership in a compassionate, curious way, you will be amazed at what you can overcome. I am a Certified Trauma Professional that draws from a psychodynamic/attachment lens to help overcome trauma, life transitions and relationship issues. I use an integrated inside-out approach: we will address issues that are part of your unique inner world, while also having real talk about the external forces that may be at play -- including gender, racial, class, sexuality, and disability-based prejudices. In short: We will look at everything that makes you, you so you can decide what can be accepted with love, and what must be changed.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Despite being in my late 30's, I have only been a counselor for a year. I'm a late-in-life career changer -- which just goes to prove that I believe that anyone can become their most authentic self, at any time they are ready. I've had the privilege of getting to explore curiosities that led me to my best self. I want to help other people be their truest, freest selves -- in and out of the therapy room. So, I try to walk my talk. I volunteer for the Medicare For All movement because I believe in equitable, justice-based mental health access. I am a member of the mental health board for the village I live in; we focus on creating improved health outcomes for everyone. I am a vocal ally and friend to immigrants, Black Americans, queer-identified people, trans people, and folks with disabilities. I am unapologetically pro abolitionism, reparations, and the land-back movement. When we work together, you're working with someone who is on your side - no questions asked.
