About My Clients
I work with client from various backgrounds and experiences, and have a particular interest in working with caregivers, educators, activists, helping professionals, parents, the LGBTQ+ community, and people impacted by traumatic experiences. Other specialties include treatment for depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief/loss, recovery & codependency and compassion fatigue/burnout.
My Background and Approach
I am a therapist & clinical supervisor with over 20 years of experience in the field. I am trained as a clinical social worker & Gestalt therapist, and I incorporate a trauma informed, social justice, feminist & intersectional lens into my work and life. My therapy style is holistic & relational. I cultivate a sense of safety & connection with clients, offering empathy, warmth and genuine care- and some humor too. My work experience includes a variety of agency & community mental health settings before starting my private therapy practice in 2009. I have extensive training in trauma treatment, somatic (embodied) work, relational therapy, family systems, anti-racist, feminist, queer affirming care, attachment work, codependency & recovery work, and caregiver support.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone should have access to support & community care, and know that we live in a society that often does not always prioritize or value health & well being. I strive to create a space where people from all walks of life, all identities, feel safe, affirmed and welcomed, and I know that everyone has the power within themselves to heal, grow and have healthy relationships. I also view healing work as political work, and integrate what is going on in the world into our work together. I care deeply about community and people in general and this is a big part of my style as a therapist. While I see clients from all backgrounds and identities, I come into therapeutic work with LGBTQ+ clients & families with my own lived experiences of having a gay parent and many beloved queer family and friends. I also offer experiences around grief/loss, caregiving and parenting alongside my training that can inform our work together.
