About My Clients
I see clients from a variety of walks of life. I provide an affirming and supportive space for people of all backgrounds. Most of my clients seek support for anxiety, depression, or life changes that are causing stress or uncertainty.
My Background and Approach
I began my career as a chaplain in healthcare settings, providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. While I loved my job, I wanted to be able to explore deeper issues and work longer with people than I was able to in the time and space of a hospital unit. As a result, I began a transition into social work and trained as a psychotherapist. I have been a therapist now since 2017 and take a "jack of all trades" approach to therapy, making an attempt to seek out training in different orientations and approaches and finding the ones that fit best to my own style. I draw heavily from ACT and DBT in their theories, but also use family systems approaches as well as other theories.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that personality fit between the client and therapist is the most important part of the therapeutic process and encourage my clients to make sure I am good fit to their needs and desired style. I believe in humor in session and being interactive and open with clients, rather than simply being a "blank canvas" or "mirror" during the session. I strive to be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community as well as the poly community. I am supportive of various causes, including Black Lives Matter and sex work decriminalization.
