I know it's been difficult and you've tried your best to manage on your own. Maybe you've learned that your value is determined by what you do, what you can produce; that you must be everything for everybody all the time. I'm here to tell you that is a lie. You have inherent value just by being. You matter just by being. Whether it's grief, trauma, chronic medical conditions, or just day to day struggles, let me help lighten your load and support you. You don't have to do this alone.
My Background and Approach
"Therapy isn't a one-size-fits-all". I know it is a cliche, but it is a cliche for a reason. My work is collaborative. I am not the therapist that will "mmhmm" you all session long nor am I one to "give you the answers". My goal is to EMPOWER YOU. Together we will work to create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals, as well as use my expertise to challenge old patterns of being and create new, adaptive ways of interacting with yourself & the world.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a woman of color with vast experiences in understanding the intricacies of intersectionalities of our identities in this world, I use this knowledge to look at you holistically. You do not function in a vacuum, rather we are impacted by different systems (like where you grew up, where you live, the politics of the time, economy, racism, systemic oppression, etc.)Your current and past struggles did not just "appear" nor are they a sign or symptom of being broken. You will hear me say in session "you are not an object to be broken nor fixed". Our lived experiences have tremendous impact on our development and ability to deal with various circumstances in life. I wholeheartedly believe that you are capable of self-actualizing and reaching whatever your highest potential is at any given moment in time. While life circumstances have challenged you and left you feeling alone, hopeless, and tired, you can make meaningful change. Together. Because you are not alone.
