About My Clients
I help couples, relationships, and individuals explore explore identities, experience greater pleasure and intimacy, and recalibrate toward more authentic, compassionate, and courageous lives. I am passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ folks in exploring and healing from the negative impacts of internalized homophobia and transphobia as they often manifest in shame, guilt, and low self-esteem.
My Background and Approach
Drawing primarily from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), modern psychodynamic theory, and intersectional queer theory, I strive to provide a validating and non-judgmental space for people to explore how past experiences have shaped current beliefs and patterns. I also hold advanced training in best practices for transgender people in mental health as guided by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I chose to become a therapist because I’ve always been captivated by personal stories and our processes of making sense of the world around us. I am drawn to questions such as: How do power, privilege, and oppression play a part in our understandings of ourselves and our own humanity? Why do we build the patterns and defense mechanisms that we do? How can we take steps toward feeling seen, heard, understood, validated, and powerful? Sitting in the therapist’s chair is an honor, as I join the people I work with in their courageous journey of self-discovery and healing.
