About My Clients
From the moment we enter this world, we are in constant relationship with the world around us- our caregivers, our family, our socioeconomic status, our gender, race, and culture- and my clients are those that want to dive a bit deeper into understanding how those relationships have impacted them throughout their life. I provide my clients with a gentle, compassionate presence to serve as a guide into that challenging depth work.
My Background and Approach
As an LMFT, I hold a Master's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Along a therapeutic journey, I help clients recognize and interrupt patterns in their life that have created distress and discord either within themselves or in their interpersonal relationships. Through an Emotion-Focused Therapy lens and attachment lens, I help individuals and partners move out of their negative cycles to open us space for repair, healing, and deeper connection. Through and Internal Family Systems lens, I work with clients to better understand their inner world and how the parts of them that have helped them in moments of struggle may continue to operate from a place of "survival mode."
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am intentional about understanding my own identity and how I move in this world because of my identity. I personally and professionally work to undo oppressive narratives and challenge the systems in place that organize around those narratives due to the harm oppression has done to marginalized groups. I actively support the LGBTQ+ community and believe that all love deserves the care and therapeutic support that therapy can provide. I firmly believe that Black Lives Matter and consciously work to challenge my own internalized racism and how white supremacy has impacted my own belief systems and upbringing, especially in my role as a white therapist working to help clients heal. I understand what it feels like to be on the other side of the therapy couch as a client myself, and have used the insight gained from those experiences to continue to collaborate with my own clients about their experience in our therapeutic relationship.
