I enjoy working with folks from all walks of life - from teens to older adults, who are ready to face a traumatic or adverse situation, improve on how they view themselves and others, learn better ways to cope and regulate themselves, or if they just want a safe and compassionate place to share what is going on right now. I will be trauma-focused, open and non-judgmental. I will challenge you, and support you. I will do my best to help walk through your adversity, your past and whatever else is
My Background and Approach
I received my undergrad in Psychology from the University of California, Riverside. I have worked as a paracounselor, advocate, volunteer, and human resources staff in a domestic violence agency; as a care coordinator in a rehabilitative transitional agency that provided care for adults with chronic, severe, and persistent mental illnesses; as a member of the Behavioral Health Integration and Complex Care Initiative team in a state hospital; and finally, as an Integration Specialist and Case Manager for several community mental health-based agencies. I began my Masters of Clinical Counseling at City University of Seattle during the COVID pandemic, and worked through it up until graduation in 2022. My internships include working individually and within an intensive outpatient group. My approach to counseling is eclectic. I use elements from humanistic, CBT, and psychodynamic theories, worksheets, journaling and exposure therapy, depending upon the client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am constantly working to be an ally to all - I do not discriminate based on gender, orientation or belief system. I try to work from a feminist and social justice-oriented perspective, keeping trauma as my focus and being mindful of my own privilege(s). If we end up not being a good fit, I will assist you in finding someone who does check all your boxes, so do not hesitate to ask!
