About My Clients
Folks who work with me are looking to connect with more authentic, more vibrant versions of themselves. We live in a time of major upheaval and transition; a time that challenges and invites us to heal, grow, and change. Folks who work with me realize they don't have to walk that path alone and choose to enroll someone on their team who can see, appreciate, and challenge them in gentle and direct ways. They are often sex/kink/poly positive; BIPOC, queer, and allies; and psychedelically minded.
My Background and Approach
My early life was enmeshed in organized religion and I am in the ongoing process of unraveling the lasting impacts of that enmeshment and I love supporting others in doing the same, healing the wounds of religious trauma. I became a therapist to help others face and heal their wounds from the past in order to live a more robust and dynamic life. I'm influenced by Liberation Psychology and am always seeking to understand and free myself and others from the very real impact of systems of oppression. I seek to create a safe and trusting relationship with the folks I work with in order to support them in exploring the more vulnerable aspects of their minds and hearts. I trust that my clients know more about themselves than I ever can and I see my job as helping them explore, integrate, and expand their understanding of self. I integrate mindfulness and somatic/body awareness into my work; am trauma informed; support psychedelic integration; and I am sex/body/kink/poly positive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all navigating the explicit and implicit impacts of living in a society dominated by cis/het-patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism. I believe that our society's design disconnects us from each other, from Nature and the Earth, and from ourselves. I believe that healing and transformation comes in turning back towards connection and community, towards the Earth and Nature, and towards ourselves...meeting all parts of ourselves with compassion and kindness, offering to ourselves the gentleness and support we may have missed out on in life. I believe that in order to transform our big political, economic, social systems - which often generate the stress and violence we endure - we have to begin healing our traumas and expanding our minds in order to make space for new ways of being to emerge. That's why I am drawn to healing work, both in my own life and in the ways I support the people I work with professionally.
