About My Clients
I most often work with men, women, and transgender individuals who are in crisis, have a mood disorder, or struggle with depression, anxiety, and grief. I can serve clients between the ages of 13 and 75. I am an LGBTQIQA+ ally. My focus is on meeting students, queer individuals, and young adults with existential dread where they are. My interventions are somatic and emotion based, which can be helpful in managing anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and grief and loss.
My Background and Approach
I am EMDR trained as of January 2021. I am currently in year two of Somatic Experiencing training, a three-year certification process for identifying and working with different forms of trauma as they appear in the body. I most often work to help you explore and better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and nervous system interact to help you achieve wellness and deal with intense life-changing situations. My approach is curious, warm, and hopeful. I have also studied transgender-affirming care and continually read up on multicultural practices and best practices in counseling. I am happy to help you pinpoint your inner strengths, find areas of growth you are ready to address, and foster your own resilience when it comes to handling life's greatest challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that Black Lives Matter, that racism and oppression still exist, and that people of color and members of the LGBTQIQA+ community continue to experience daily forms of hate and discrimination. I volunteer at my local homeless shelter and have extensive experience in community service from my time in the Boy Scouts. I also love learning about resiliency, holistic practices from Buddhism, and new ways to provide trans- and gender-affirming care with empathy and compassion.
