About My Clients
I work with diverse couples at varying stages of their relationship and value seeing all types of couples. I have developed a speciality working with interracial and intercultural couples who wish to explore sociocultural differences as well as the core issues bringing them to therapy. About a third of my clients are individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, family and relationship tensions, trauma responses, and adjustment issues. I work with many BIPOC clients.
My Background and Approach
My training with couples is grounded in attachment theory and emotionally focused interventions where I target voicing underlying needs, increasing empathy, improving communication, and increasing problem solving skills. With individual clients, I am an integrative practitioner and have extensive training in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, cultural contextual, and humanistic models of therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In addition to being a clinical psychologist, I am a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant with VISIONS, Inc. Attending to experiences of oppression, privilege, and strengths tied to sociocultural identity is important in creating a cohesive work environment and is absolutely integral to providing effective psychotherapy. I aim to practice cultural humility, even with clients who share my core identities, and aim to make psychotherapy as inclusive as possible. I am deeply committed to providing culturally curious treatment to every person or couple I work with and believe this is important for any type of psychotherapy to be effective.
