About My Clients
You’re feeling like the weight of your situation is taking over your life and you just want to hide away until it all disappears. It seems like you've tried everything, but nothing seems to work, at least not for very long. You are disconnected from people; you are burned out or feeling slumped at work and taking care of basic daily things is just too much. What you want is to get to a place where you can feel alive and head towards your goals, to live a full life.
My Background and Approach
Shannon earned her B.A. with a focus in psychology and sociology and M.A. in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Portland State University in Oregon. Shannon worked for 18 years with disenfranchised adolescents with experiences in mental health, homelessness, criminal activity, and independent living. Her most recent experience is working with adults experiencing chronic health impairments in educational, vocational, and mental health. She utilizes a mixture of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). She specializes in Anxiety, Depression, Chronic Health, and healing significant trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We reach our fullest potential when we understand our values, even though we sometimes forget them or get led away from them. They are the things we stand for, the things we live for. In my practice, I firmly believe that you are a whole person, and you are not broken and do not need to be fixed and I will honor this each time we meet. Your history, values, culture, background, lifestyle, and experiences are an important part of who you are and deserve respect and affirmation of those parts of you. This is your space to be seen, heard, and validated and you can be your authentic, true self.
