About My Clients
I practice radical compassion and empathy. I help clients decide how to move forward in life from a place of choice, not habit. Many of my clients come to me having experienced a lifetime of trauma, surviving in miraculous, awe-inspiring ways. I am comfortable working with relationships of all configurations. I work with straight and queer couples and families, as well folks practicing non-monogamy and polyamory. I am also kink aware.
My Background and Approach
My formative years were spent overseas in Canada, Western Europe, and West Africa. I returned to my birthplace of Tennessee for middle school through undergrad. This experience has made me uniquely sensitive to folks struggling with identity and a sense of "home." Additionally, my own work in finding meaningful, grounded spirituality underlies my interest in supporting clients on their spiritual journeys, particularly folks who have experienced religious trauma and are hoping to reclaim an affirming spiritual practice. I have a personal meditation practice and incorporate mindfulness into my work. I graduated from Naropa University's Masters in Contemplative Psychotherapy and went on to pursue a post graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Denver Family Institute. I also have additional training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I am an active member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and co-chair the LGBTQ Special Interest Group.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about creating a space for radical self-compassion and healing. My training in contemplative therapy means that I firmly believe that each individual possesses the inherent wisdom to heal from pain. I have a strong desire to help clients navigate webs of power, privilege, and oppression. I work to create an environment of radical inclusivity for clients of all genders, sexual orientations, races, cultures, faiths, sizes, and lifestyles and I am a kink and poly aware therapist. I have particular interest and experience working with folks in the LGBTQIA+ community and with folks practicing non-traditional relationship structures. I identify as nonbinary and my pronouns are they, them, theirs. My partner and I conduct transgender inclusion and affirmation workshops for nonprofit audiences in the Denver/Boulder area.
