About My Clients
Do you want to learn how to work with your brain and not against it? Do you struggle holding together emotions, spiraling thoughts, and sense of self while living in a world where things only seem to be getting worse? You are not alone. I specialize in helping people of color and those holding queer or neurodivergent identities navigate these issues. I understand the overwhelming balance of adapting to survive and staying true to yourself, and I'm here to journey with you.
My Background and Approach
I see counseling as a radical act of self-exploration, self-growth, and self acceptance. Using the counseling space to explore your emotions, relationships, stressors, and thought processes can provide a base of stability for your healing process and your journey towards vitality. I use humanistic and relational approaches, and I view counseling as an experiential process helping you to get to know you. I use techniques and structures derived from evidence-based practices such as mindfulness, narrative therapy, expressive approaches, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and attachment theory. I aim to help clients reach their personal goals through building agency, identifying and exploring values, improving emotional regulation skills, and deepening insight. Regardless of what we decide to work, counseling is a co-created process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I grew up queer and black in the American south while having ADHD, unrecognized until I was an adult. My experiences have shown me that the world will often tell us that our most authentic selves are wrong or bad. This is not true. As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I am committed to the joy, liberation, health, and vitality of all our communities. These experiences inform my clinical approach rooted in self acceptance, self exploration, and building skills needed to thrive. I believe that counseling is a place for your authentic self to feel safe, heard, and validated. I seek to co-create a therapeutic space of exploration and meaning with you to allow your authentic self speak louder and be heard. I strive to help you build your senses of agency, inner peace, purpose and self-love. You are the expert on your own life and experiences and you deserve support and witness to your journey.
