About My Clients

My specialities include: college students and young adults, those new to counseling/therapy, parents of a child with a disability and/or mental health diagnosis, and individuals with ASD. I have advanced training in Trauma Informed Counseling, am EMDR trained, am proficient in ASL, and am LGBTQIA+ affirming.

My Background and Approach

I recognize that entering into a counseling relationship takes both courage and trust. I truly believe that we all have the possibility for increased resilience and growth. I approach counseling from a collaborative, person-centered approach that honors the complexity of identity (ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation and any other factors that relate to an individual's societal and cultural experiences). When working with clients experiencing anxiety, I utilize elements of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I have worked with individuals with acquired, chronic, developmental, and mental health diagnoses for 20 years. Along with providing clinical counseling services, I am an affiliate faculty in Northwestern University's Counseling@Northwestern Master's program and an instructor of counseling skills in the Rehabilitation & Disability Services Department at Northern Illinois University.
