Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based psychotherapy, first developed in the 1980s by Marsha M. Linehan, to treat patients suffering from borderline personality disorder. Since then, DBT’s use has broadened and now it is regularly employed as part of a treatment plan for people struggling with behaviors or emotions they can't control. This can include eating disorders, substance abuse, self-harm, and more. DBT is a skills-based approach that focuses on helping people increase their emotional and cognitive control by learning the triggers that lead to unwanted behaviors. Once triggers are identified, DBT teaches coping skills that include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. A therapist specializing in DBT will help you to enhance your own capabilities, improve your motivation, provide support in-the-moment, and better manage your own life with problem-solving strategies. Think this approach might work for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s DBT specialists today.

Maybe you've used all your super powers to survive, but are not thriving. Anxiety and perfectionism can make life feel impossible. What helps anxiety can make depression feel worse. Coping by isolating, avoiding, dissociating, eating (and I don't mean broccoli) are just tools that may have worked temporarily in the past. No more! You can be free.

I have worked with a people going through life transitions, understanding trauma, and exploring what makes healthy and happy relationships. I believe that therapy is a tool to assist in times of need, and in therapy I want to support the individual to come to their own conclusions. My end goal is for my clients to feel that they have their own tools to solve their problems.

Are you struggling with symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, Anger, ADHD or PTSD related to relationships with friends or family members? During our initial sessions, while building rapport, we will investigate issues at hand, and collaborate to develop treatment goals/objectives for addressing them. Establishing safety and stabilization of symptoms is typically one of the first goals. My clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and sustained improvement thereafter.
