Energy psychology is a mind-body technique that combines exposure therapy with holistic techniques to spiritual healing. Energy psychology is deeply rooted in both western (exposure therapy) and eastern (holistic approaches) traditions. In exposure therapy, the client is exposed to a feared situation or object, or talks about a traumatic experience, in a safe environment. During this 'exposure,' a therapist will work to heal disturbances in the body's electrical fields, often via body tapping. Body tapping is a stimulation of pressure points, which helps the brain better regulate emotions during these disturbances. Think this approach might be right for you? Are you struggling with feeling inferior; feeling superior; needing to be perfect; feeling you're a burden; or people pleasing? When we grow up in difficult circumstances, we come up with these beliefs/ways of being as a way to help us feel a little more safe. As difficult as it is to hold these beliefs about ourselves, they somehow help us feel better. As we grow up, they create difficulties in our adult relationships.

I specialize in working with individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, addiction, personality disorders, trauma/PTSD, sexual abuse, and DV. In my work and research, I have focused on the ways in which neurobiology and temperament combine with exposure to discrimination, microaggressions, violence, and other forms of societal and systemic oppression to affect mental health and wellbeing, especially as this pertains to LGBTQIAAP+ individuals.
