Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. If you are experiencing gender identity issues, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s qualified professionals today.

My clients typically feel like they are “too much”, their emotions are “too big”, and they are “too sensitive”. I invite clients to shift their thinking, and believe they are “enough” through a variety of approaches (see “my approach”). My clients are usually seeking treatment in order to increase their ability to “swim in the sea of emotions”, improve relationships with loved ones, and improve executive functioning skills (such as time management, accomplishing their to-do-list, ect).

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar challenges, trauma, and relational struggles. Specializing in working with those navigating active substance use, gender identity questions and those healing from primary or family of origin relationships that were exploitive, invalidating, dysregulating, and have created a daily reality where you do not trust yourself. I hold space for the complexity, fear, and hope that come with releasing old habits and creating new ones.

I work primarily with folks who are: neurodivergent (e.g. autistic, ADHD, or other), chronically ill/disabled (particularly with autoimmune illnesses), queer/LGBTQIAA2S, sexual/gender outsiders, fat-identified and/or hoping to develop a more loving relationship with their body, sex workers, poly folks, and those in non-traditional relationship and family structures. If you've ever been told that you're too much, too negative, or too "in your head," let's talk. I welcome you exactly as you are.
