Humanistic therapy, also known as humanism, is a therapeutic approach that combines mindfulness and behavioral therapy, with positive social support. Humanistic therapy is grounded in the belief that people are innately good. The focus is on the individual client’s experience, with humanistic therapists believing that that approach is more beneficial and informative than a focus on groups of individuals with similar characteristics. Emphasis is given to creativity, free will, and human potential, with a focus on a person’s positive traits and their ability to use their personal instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment within themselves. This type of therapy encourages a self-awareness and mindfulness that helps the client change their state of mind and behavior from one set of reactions to a healthier one with more productive and thoughtful actions. Do you have trouble understanding what you’re feeling, or why you’re feeling it? Maybe you often ask “does that make sense?”, unsure whether your thoughts are coming across how you want them to. Or you find that you're really hard on yourself, with a running narrative of “I’m the worst!”. Perhaps you’re scared to get things wrong, and feel unable to trust yourself to know what you want, let alone how to get there. If you relate to this and want to feel less anxious and more at ease, I can help!

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

I offer compassionate guidance to individuals and couples navigating narratives of self-doubt, perfectionism, and the challenges of overwork and overwhelm. Together, we can overcome rumination, anxiety, and harsh self-criticism. Embracing a mindset free from highlighting imperfections and fears is a transformative journey towards self-discovery. I focus on addressing shame, self-criticism, and trust concerns, tailored especially for those who identify as neurodivergent or anxiety-prone.
I work with adults and adolescents (ages 12 and up) struggling with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, trauma, and relational distress. I also work with members of the LGBTQIA+ population and poly/ENM/kinky folks around gender identity and expression, boundary-setting, and self-acceptance. I am available for both individual and couples counseling, in-person or via telehealth anywhere in the state of Indiana.
