Psychodynamic therapy is a therapeutic treatment that primarily focuses on the interpretation of mental and emotional processes. It shares much in common with psychoanalysis and is often considered a simpler, less time consuming alternative. Like psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapy seeks to reveal the unconscious content of a client's psyche in an effort to alleviate psychic tension. Psychodynamic therapy increases a client’s self-awareness and grows their understanding of the influence of the past on present behavior. It allows clients to examine unresolved conflicts and symptoms that arise from past experiences and explore how they are manifesting themselves in current behaviors, such as the need and desire to abuse substances. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s psychodynamic therapy experts today.

I work with clients dealing with anxiety or depression rooted in OCD, life transitions, challenging family dynamics, work/life imbalance, coping with neurodivergence in a neurotypical world, and dating/relationship stressors. I have worked with adults of all ages - college students to seniors - and enjoy working with people throughout the lifespan. These are challenging and scary times for many. It is important for me to note that I am LGBTQIA+ allied.

Many people I work with have been in therapy before and learned cognitive or mindfulness skills that, while helpful, don't seem to go deep enough. Maybe this is true for you, too--in spite of all your best efforts, you still feel anxious and depressed, struggle with obsessive thoughts, or feel stuck in old patterns. I can help you get to the root of your problems instead of just looking at the surface-level symptoms, so that you can get back to living life fully and joyfully.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
