Codependency, sometimes referred to as “relationship addiction," describes sacrificing one’s personal needs to try to meet the needs of others. Although it is often associated with romantic relationships, codependency can be experienced in all types of close relationships, including with family and friendships. Someone who is codependent has an extreme focus outside themselves. Their thoughts and actions revolve around other people, such as a spouse or relative or they build their identity on helping or “saving” other people. Codependents typically experience feelings of low self-esteem, anxiety and insecurity in these relationships and may also experience perfectionism and control issues. Codependent symptoms can worsen if left untreated. If you are worried that you might be codependent, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s codependency experts today!

I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Although working with various populations requires differing approaches, I see many of the same presenting issues whether I'm working with individuals or with relationships: communication issues, betrayal, trauma (intergenerational, sexual, emotional, psychological, and physical), anxiety, depression, and unhealthy ways of coping. It is important that my clients collaborate with me in finding the best solutions in their therapeutic process.

Therapy can help you build the tools you need to thrive! I work with individuals, couples, and families to address a variety of concerns; including relationship struggles, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. I also specialize in helping teens and athletes overcome performance anxiety and develop strategies for success, both on and off the field. Together, we can focus on building coping skills, improving communication, and finding clarity in the areas of your life that feel uncertain.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
