Culturally sensitive therapy is an approach in which therapists emphasize understanding a client's background, ethnicity, and belief system. Therapists that specialize in culturally sensitive therapy will accommodate and respect the differences in practices, traditions, values and opinions of different cultures and integrate those differences into therapeutic treatment. Culturally sensitive therapy will typically lead with a thorough assessment of the culture the client identifies with. This approach can both help a client feel comfortable and at ease, and lead to more positive therapeutic outcomes – for example, depression may look different depending on your cultural background. Think this is approach may be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapDen’s culturally sensitive therapy experts today.

I am a strong advocate for social justice reform. Identifying as an immigrant myself, I have a deep empathy, connection and personal understanding of the immigrant experience. I work with a diverse patient population and my passion lies in working with the LGBTQIA+ population, veteran and/or active duty folx, people of colour and immigrants. I am able to practice in 42 "PSYPACT" approved states.

I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Although working with various populations requires differing approaches, I see many of the same presenting issues whether I'm working with individuals or with relationships: communication issues, betrayal, trauma (intergenerational, sexual, emotional, psychological, and physical), anxiety, depression, and unhealthy ways of coping. It is important that my clients collaborate with me in finding the best solutions in their therapeutic process.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

Challenging the roles society has placed on us can be really difficult, but when we break through these barriers to create our own identities, life can feel so meaningful. My passion is working with individuals and couples, especially people of colour, men, and the LGBTQ community, to re-define themselves into who they truly want to be. By helping individuals be their truest selves in relationships, I also help couples create a more fulfilling partnership.
