Gender identity issues, sometimes called gender dysphoria or gender conflict, occur when an individual feels an inconsistency between their physical gender and the gender they truly feel or identify with. This most commonly exhibits itself as a physical discomfort with the gender one was assigned at birth, including the feeling of being in the wrong body. Children with gender dysphoria may express disgust of their own genitals or a certainty that they will grow up to be the opposite sex. Some individuals with gender identity issues treat this feeling by physically modifying their bodies to better match their gender identity. Gender dysphoria comes with it an increased risk for depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and bullying. If you are experiencing gender identity issues, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s qualified professionals today.

My approach is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts & feelings, I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a fulfilling life. We will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns–whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, stress, or gender and sexuality.

I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds seeking support for a wide range of issues: depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, relationship conflicts, and life changes, planned or unplanned. Many of my clients identify among LGBTQ+ populations, and some don't. I enjoy collaborating with individuals seeking growth. I am passionate about helping people discover that their life matters, that they matter, that it is possible to keep going despite the pain and even to experience joy.

While I’ve worked with clients from all different kinds of communities, I’m particularly passionate about supporting people who are working through sexual shame, navigating ethical non-monogamy, and those who identify as queer/BIPOC. I believe that community is at the core of our being. Despite that, relationships (platonic, romantic, or otherwise) are complicated. Navigating challenges that arise and staying curious can allow you to find ways to heal and discover your truth.

My clients are individuals seeking psychiatric care. They may be struggling with mental health issues, addiction, or both. My clients are ready to take steps towards healing and improving their quality of life. They value a collaborative approach to care, and are open to treatment plans that may include medication and therapy. My clients are committed to their well-being, and are looking for a supportive and understanding provider to guide them on their journey.

I love helping people look at old patterns of coping and interacting in the world, and seeing how those patterns influence their daily life. I work well with people who want to go under the surface of what's going on and look at what may be lurking underneath. This can understandably bring up some feelings of apprehension, and we will always go at a pace that feels right and safe for you. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm helping to navigate.

I enjoy clients from all backgrounds. I seem to have strong connections with those who identify as kinky, polyamorous, LGBTQ+, or formerly religious and who are wanting to navigate those spaces in a more fulfilling way. Belonging to all four of these communities, I have experienced many of the complex feelings that come with living in a way that is not always understood or recognized. I like helping people find new stories to tell about their lives and new ways to live. Be seen. Be heard.

At Wild Heart Society, we work with LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent folks, and those navigating identity, relationships, and mental health. Our clients seek a therapist who truly understands them—someone affirming, compassionate, and ready to challenge harmful systems. Whether you're exploring gender, healing from trauma, or parenting a trans child, we create a safe, empowering space where you can show up fully and be met with care, respect, and support.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, who face unique stressors resulting from the biases ingrained in our culture. I also focus on men’s mental health issues, as men can be less likely to seek support due to difficulty expressing their emotions and outdated ideas about masculinity. My clients are often experiencing depression, anxiety, complex trauma, ADHD, relationship issues, family conflict, self-esteem challenges, life changes, social anxiety, and religious trauma.

*Currently accepting new couples only* I work with people experiencing attachment injuries and disconnection. I view mental health symptoms within the context of prolonged disconnection from the self and others. When prolonged disconnection, suffering, and trauma occur, mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression, and those related to PTSD can arise. Those I work with often experience these symptoms, as well as shame, diminished self-worth, anger, fear, issues within relationships, etc.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and anxious, know that you're not alone. As a therapist specializing in ADHD, anxiety, and working with the LGBT community, I understand how difficult it can be to navigate these challenges. But take comfort in knowing that support is available. It takes courage to reach out, and I'm here to help you. Don't be afraid to be your true self - you deserve to live a fulfilling life. Let's work together to overcome these obstacles.
