Just like any other group, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community faces mental health issues and unique challenges. However, LGBTQ individuals are almost 3 times more likely than others to experience a mental health condition, such as depression or anxiety. Additionally, more than half of individuals who identify as transgender experience depression or anxiety. The LGBTQ community is also at a higher risk for suicide. Young people are even more at risk, as they may experience a lack of support at home and fear, hatred or prejudice in school. If you are a member of the LGBTQ community and are facing mental health challenges, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s LGBTQ experts and get help today.

Finding a therapist who you are comfortable with can help with overcoming periods of feeling trapped in a negative cycle. My goal as your therapist will be to create a safe space where we can explore ways to decrease distress, so that you can live life feeling lighter and unburdened. Therapy is a journey you and I take together. In times of pain and discomfort, we have the potential to grow into a stronger version of ourselves.

I work best with LGBTQ clients, chronically ill/disabled clients, ADHDer & autistic clients, clients who want to heal from diet culture, and clients who have survived trauma. Additionally, I have experience with sex workers, kink, polyamory, religious trauma, cancer and terminal illnesses, & relationship counseling with partners of differing neurotypes. I'm also passionate about working with grief and loss, union tradesworkers, and fellow geeks and fandoms.

It is one of the greatest gifts of my life to be able to serve as a guide to others while they navigate the painful and expansive process of knowing themselves more fully. My experience is focused on teens and adults, ages 13 and up. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I also have training and experience working with the LGBTQ+ population. I offer licensure supervision to fellow therapists pursuing their LCSW.

I companion individuals and those in partnered relationships from various backgrounds. The biggest thing these folks have in common is that they all are courageously working towards realignment with themselves. I companion clients navigating life transitions, trauma, relational distress, gender and sexuality exploration, sexual concerns, and neurodivergence.

If you're struggling to maintain your basic needs because you're in survival mode, I see you. It can feel impossible to navigate chronic burnout, especially when the path may be blocked by barriers related to chronic illness, executive functioning and sensory needs, and/or unprocessed trauma. These barriers can often be paired with shame and guilt, which makes it difficult to connect with others around you. While it may feel overwhelming to find a path to healing, I am here to help co-navigate.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.
