Expressive art therapy uses the creative arts as a form of therapy. Similar to art or dance therapy, expressive art therapy uses the creative process of each individual to promote healing. The goal of expressive art therapy is to facilitate self-discovery, increased awareness, connection and understanding. The act of creating art helps to unlock the expression of inner feelings, and the creative process is the path toward better emotional health. Rather than focusing on the final product, the process of creation via nonverbal language is the emphasis. This type of therapy is often used with children, who may participate in music, movement, or finger painting while the therapist observes the activity and encourages the child to talk about the experience. Adult clients might journal, dance, or create videos in order to connect better with themselves and others. Think this approach might be right for you? Are you feeling like life is too difficult? Are you overwhelmed at the thought of continuing with how things are? If so, we may be a good fit to work together. I provide support for children, adolescents, their families, and individual adults experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, and behavioral challenges. I help my clients navigate the shame and overwhelm they are experiencing and help lead them to self-compassion and understanding of the 'why' behind their feelings and behaviors.
Our clients love our gentle, jungly space to let down for a minute and be their unfiltered, weird and awesome selves. Lots of our folks come to us pretty exhausted and burned out, grieving what they thought their lives would be at this point, or overwhelmed with everything going on in 2024. Many here lately are discerning whether they might be neurodivergent. Most are feeling held back and wanting to break into a new era where they're finally enjoying their lives and relationships more.

If you’re anything like me, then you’re highly aware of sensory-input, whether it be lights, sounds, and even the emotional states of others. My clients tend to fall under the Neurodivergent umbrella, and benefit from a sensory-aware environment that also aims to support executive function. My clients may also struggle with depression, participate in nerd-culture, spiritual deconstruction, and are members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
