Humanistic therapy, also known as humanism, is a therapeutic approach that combines mindfulness and behavioral therapy, with positive social support. Humanistic therapy is grounded in the belief that people are innately good. The focus is on the individual client’s experience, with humanistic therapists believing that that approach is more beneficial and informative than a focus on groups of individuals with similar characteristics. Emphasis is given to creativity, free will, and human potential, with a focus on a person’s positive traits and their ability to use their personal instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment within themselves. This type of therapy encourages a self-awareness and mindfulness that helps the client change their state of mind and behavior from one set of reactions to a healthier one with more productive and thoughtful actions. Think this approach might be right for you? Reach out to one of TherapyDen’s humanistic therapy experts.
Between and within humans, multiple perspectives exist, and what is discovered depends on how observing happens. This understanding has led to my intense compassion for human suffering, and delight in the unique paths forged. It is possible to ultimately drop attachments contributing to suffering, in order to experience the innately loving conscious beings we are. Here the focus is less on "right and wrong" and more on the wise discernment of what ACTUALLY contributes to suffering.

I specialize in serving individuals who feel disconnected from themselves and others due to traumatic experiences or mental health issues like anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship struggles. My ideal clients are seeking a judgment-free space to explore their inner world and process emotions that feel overwhelming or unclear. My expertise is creating a calm, empathic environment for you to develop self-awareness, find relief, and embrace all of your authentic self.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

My clients tend to be individuals and couples between 20 and 50 who have noticed an acute or recurrent struggle with effectively managing self and relationships. Some client's concerns are isolated to a specific or current relationships and others have a more systemic struggle that has historically complicated all relationships. My clients have told me they appreciate my compassionate yet direct approach that balances science with emotions and skills with acceptance.

When I first meet with people, some of my first questions I might ask are: - What made you hit the "Search therapists" button? - Do you have difficulty making decisions? - Feel stuck or lost when it comes to your direction in this busy life you've got going on? - Do you feel like things are just simply, unmanageable? I want my clients to feel at home in my office and talking to me about all of these questions, the way you feel comfortable talking to your closest friends and confidants.

I view the main vehicle for healing as connection: with me, with yourself, with your body, with others in your life, with your environment, and with broader structures and movements. If you're seeking to meet or become reacquainted with all parts of yourself without shame, I would be honored to serve as a supportive guide along the way. We will use therapy as a place to explore what possibilities open up for you when you feel your most connected, authentic, agentic, and free.

I specialize in supporting people with marginalized sexualities and relationships, including kink/BDSM, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and general concerns with sex / sexual desire. I understand how strong the shame can be here; my main priority is making sure you feel deeply heard, understood, and accepted. Not just by me, but by all parts of yourself as well. My hope is to help clients fully integrate these parts, even (and especially) the hidden ones.
