About My Clients
When you think of a "therapist", what pops into your mind? The image of the quintessential therapist may be a little antiquated for the 21st century and you may not be sure if that person can understand where you're coming from. With me, therapy is compassionate, authentic, and realistic. I have faith that you are strong enough to explore into those neglected parts of you and allow them to be seen and held. As a relational and systemic therapist, we'll work to understand your place in the world.
My Background and Approach
In the therapeutic space, we will use a variety of methods to build mutual insight into your personal history, family legacy, and social location. You'll have the opportunity to examine your culture and learned identity. With that information, we will transform what may seem like inescapable generational curses into a bright new future.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a relational and systemic therapist who is personally of mixed race/ethnic heritage (African American and Puerto Rican), actively working on decolonization and reconnecting to indigenous cultural practices and healing methods. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, have focused my Master's-level internship at a devoted LGBTQIA+ community center, and have advocated for gender-expansive membership through a Latina-based sorority. I am an active advocate of Black Lives Matter/Las Vidas Negras Importan. Although I do not have other specialized experience at this time, I am an active learner and supporter of other marginalized communities and movements including, but not limited to, disability rights, psychiatric survivors, kink community, ethical non-monogamy affirming.
