About My Clients
I work with adults, especially queer individuals and those struggling with addiction, using a spiritual and existential approach. I value therapy as a collaborative process and seek clients committed to deep, integral healing. My focus is on addressing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—while exploring identity, addiction, and life's profound questions. I aim to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients can grow, heal, and explore new paths for personal transformation.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist and the founder of Awakenly Practice, bringing nearly a decade of experience in outpatient mental health treatment across clinics in New York City and Phoenix, Arizona. A native of Costa Rica, I'm bilingual and I integrate a multicultural perspective into my work. I earned my degree from New York University and I'm trained in psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches. Recently, I have expanded my practice to include somatic therapies and mindfulness-based interventions. My specialties include trauma, LGBTQ+ support, and addiction treatment and recovery.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that mental well-being is a fundamental human birthright and that every individual has the capacity for healing and growth. Therapy, for me, is a process that integrates the practical, spiritual, and existential aspects of a person’s life. It is not just about solving problems but also about exploring deeper questions of meaning, purpose, and connection. I see therapy as a collaborative partnership between client and therapist, where we work together to uncover insights, develop self-awareness, and ultimately foster greater autonomy and well-being. This holistic approach empowers individuals to embrace their authentic selves and create lasting, positive change.
