My Background and Approach
It is natural for a part of us to not want to engage in therapy, and sometimes we have to tune into the part of us that is saying it could be worth trying. I establish a compassionate, patient, and accepting environment where individuals can gain new information, strengthen their coping strategies, and recover at their own pace. I assist individuals with recognizing their strengths, embracing self-compassion, and self-learning in a way that is non-judgmental. I also assist individuals with moving from stuck-points and recovering from trauma. I have an eclectic therapeutic style, pulling from my educational background at the Ohio State University, professional trainings in strength-based and solution-focused brief therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and creative and expressive interventions such as art, body movement, and mindfulness.
