About My Clients
What does it look like to live your best, most authentic life? It can be hard to love yourself when you aren’t even sure who you are anymore, or what you want in life. Maybe you never knew because everyone else’s voices and opinions were too loud. My goal will be to help you figure out what you want and what you need, on your own terms -- untangle the lies you've told yourself for too long. Together, we will get to know the real you and help you fall in love with the beautiful person you are.
My Background and Approach
I’ve spent most of my life as an “outsider,” feeling like I didn’t belong, and working too hard to conform to what other people needed me to be. It took years to realize my authentic self and become the proud queer that I am today. I know how hard it can be to live an honest life when your parents, friends, community, spouse, or partners all believe (or want) you to be a certain way. Climbing out of the boxes others have built for you and into your own skin is a scary journey, but it is the most rewarding adventure we can take. Through the relationship we develop in therapy, we will learn to uncover the pieces of you that you have been trained to fear or reject. I will help you put together the beautiful puzzle that is your truest self, celebrating your journey, and embracing every unique part of you. You are not alone. You are perfectly unique. And I can’t wait to get to know all of your beautiful pieces.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in people. I believe that people are doing the best they can with the tools they have, and sometimes those tools can be the wrong ones for the job at hand. When that happens, we frequently injure ourselves and others. But new tools can always be picked up along the way! I believe that some of the most important work we do as humans is to adapt, to look for better tools, and to learn to use them well, for the sake of ourselves and the people around us. I believe in therapy – in the relationship, in the process, and in the deeply complex beauty of all human beings. Learning to see others and be seen by others, honestly and openly, is some of the most terrifying and rewarding work we can do in this life. I believe that we all deserve the chance to see and be seen. We all deserve to be loved for who we are. No matter who you’ve pretended to be, how you got here, or where you came from, now is the time to choose yourself and live your fullest life. That’s what I believe.
