I tend to work well with individuals who desire to cultivate insight, expansion, and understanding of their self-experience and are motivated to be an active participant in this endeavor. I seek to cultivate a sturdy working alliance that supports your ability to both move through and bear your suffering in the direction of greater freedom, honesty, acceptance, genuineness, curiosity, and compassion.
My Background and Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, meaning I frequently pull from the wisdom of various evidence-based theoretical, philosophical, and empirical approaches to inform the uniqueness of each individual I work with. As a therapist, I first and foremost work to meet my patients where they are in their mental health journey. I seek to create an environment characterized by empathy, curiosity, and appreciation for complexity and paradox. I try to help my patients hold tensions and honor multiple (oftentimes conflicting) emotional realities. I hope to cultivate a stance of tenderness, warmth, and understanding towards emotion-states and parts of yourself that are difficult to bear, and to engage in a meaning-making process that allows for insight, grief, liberation, and openness to new possibilities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My primary clinical orientation is informed primarily by contemporary psychodynamic, existential, gestalt, attachment-based, and developmental approaches. I aim to balance cultivating insight around the significance of past experiences and relationships, while also attending to how you currently move and operate in the world.
